Frequently Asked Questions

Below is a list of FAQs which should answer most questions. If you still need support, please contact us at appsupport@soundasthma.com.

1. Can I add a medication that is not listed in the app?

Yes. If your medication is not listed on the AsthmaSense medication table you can add it by doing the following:

• Tap on the “Settings” tab and then select the “Medication/Measurement Reminders” pane. This will take you to the “Med/Measurement Reminders” page.

• Tap on “Medications Reminders” and rather than tapping on the arrow, tap on “Enter Medication.”

• Type the name of the medication you want to add and press the “Save” command when done.

2. I was away from my phone when I took my medication. Can I enter it now and have it reflect the time I took the medication?

Yes. You can enter data at anytime. From the Journal page, tap on the “Late” button for the time and medication you want to enter.

3. Can I turn off some notification reminders while others remain on?

Yes. If you need to turn off the reminders for whatever reason, you can by simply tapping on the “Reminders” button and selecting one or more of the reminders to turn off.

4. I have used the AsthmaSense app for a while now and I want to reset my Alert Messages. Can I do that?

Yes. Tap on the “Settings” button. Tap on the “General” pane and then tap “Asthma Alerts Message Reset.”

5. When setting up the AsthmaSense app, under “Measurement Devices” I saw the name WheezoMeter. What is a WheezoMeter?

The AsthmaSense app uses data you enter from your Peak Flow measurements. It will also allow you to enter measurements from a WheezoMeter, if you have one. The WheezoMeter is a medical device used to measure the presence and duration of wheezing, called WheezeRATE. Because it requires no forced breathing effort, many people find it easier to use than a Peak Flow Meter. Click here for more information about the WheezoMeter.

6. The Alert Message is telling me my asthma may not be well controlled or is very poorly controlled. How do I find out why I have this message?

These Alert Messages are based on the data you have entered – Peak Flow measurements, the number of times you have used your Rescue inhaler, your symptoms – which are matched against the National Institute of Health guidelines for asthma control. Based on these medical guidelines, the app will indicate that your asthma control may be changing and that you may need to take appropriate action.

To view the specific cause of these Alert Messages, tap on the Alert Message in the status bar at the top of the HOME or JOURNAL screens.

7. I have an iPad but the rescue function doesn’t seem to work. Why?

While the App can operate on the iPad, iTouch, and on other Droid Pads, because these do not function as phones, features such as calling 911 will not work.
